The Alaska Department of Public Safety's Criminal Justice Information System offers two methods for conducting background checks: a fingerprint-based search, which provides a more comprehensive and accurate criminal history report, and a name-based search, which may not capture all relevant criminal history due to limitations in reporting to the state's Central Repository.
